Sophie Caroline Eleutheria Paulus

Sophie Caroline Eleutheria Paulus (1791–1847) was the daughter of the Heidelberg theologian Heinrich Eberhard Gottlob Paulus.

Her second name — Eleutheria, freedom — is a sign of the times: she was born in 1791, when the French Revolution still aroused hope in Germany. She later married August Wilhelm Schlegel; the marriage was dissolved by divorce.
