Karl Christian Flatt

Karl Christian Flatt (1772–1843) was a scholarship holder in Tübingen, became a Magister in 1791, a Repetent in 1798, and Professor of Theology in 1804.

He belonged to Hegel’s class year and remained connected to the Stift (the Tübingen seminary), while Hegel left it. The two paths — one into a church office, the other into private tutoring positions and eventually into philosophy — show what was possible for a member of the Stift at that time.
