Kajetan von Weiller

Kajetan von Weiller (1761–1826) was a Catholic clergyman and, from 1792 onward, taught mathematics and philosophy in Munich.

He belonged to the Bavarian Enlightenment thinkers who wrote against Schelling’s philosophy of nature. Given the circumstances in Munich, where Schelling arrived in 1806, Weiller was his chief adversary — the dispute between Enlightenment thought and the philosophy of nature was fought out there on political terrain.
