Isaak von Sinclair

Isaak von Sinclair (1775–1815) had been friends with Hegel, Hölderlin, and Schelling since 1792 and entered the service of the Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg in 1796.

He arranged for Hölderlin to come to Homburg and in 1805 became caught up in a high-treason trial — the so-called Württemberg Jacobin Trial. His acquittal came after Hölderlin, as a witness, was declared not of sound mind.
