Gustav Matthias

Gustav Matthias (1774–1847) was deputy headmaster at the Lyzeum Fridericianum in Kassel.

He was among the schoolmen with whom Hegel stayed in contact during his years as rector in Nuremberg — the reform of the gymnasium was underway at the time in all the German states, and the rectors exchanged views on the matter.
