Georg Friedrich Daumer

Georg Friedrich Daumer (1800–1875) was a philosopher of religion and poet and Hegel’s student at the Nuremberg Gymnasium.

He reports that Hegel released the teachers from the obligation to attend Sunday church services — on the grounds that the sermons were boring and unedifying. Daumer himself later turned against Christianity altogether and in the end became Catholic.
