Karl Maria von Weber

Carl Maria von Weber (1786–1826) was a composer who, with Der Freischütz, founded the German romantic opera.

Hegel saw the work in Berlin. In the lectures on aesthetics, music belongs among the romantic arts — those in which inwardness expresses itself directly, without the detour through outward form.
