Henrich Steffens
1773-1845
Henrich Steffens (1773–1845) was Norwegian, studied under Schelling in Jena, and became a professor in Halle, Breslau, and Berlin.
He carried Schelling’s philosophy of nature to Scandinavia and combined it with geology and mineralogy. In Berlin he was one of Hegel’s colleagues — and one of those who, after Hegel’s death, helped bring about the turn toward positive philosophy.
