In itself / For itself / In and for itself

In itself — the disposition, the potential (as the seed contains the tree), still unfolded. For itself — reflection and demarcation, the "I" that distinguishes itself from the Other. In and for itself — accomplished actuality: the potential is realized and knows itself as such.
