Determinate being, being with quality. No longer merely "is," but "is so-and-so." *Dasein* is being-for-another — it stands in relation, has boundaries, is finite.

Origin: Traditionally: existence. In Hegel: first stage of determinacy, still immediate.

In Hegel: Enc. §89-90; SL Vol. 1, Quality

Cross-references: Being, Quality, Being-for-itself, Something, Being-for-another
